17808 State Highway 100 W Grafton, IL 62037 The Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a skilled individual to provide various and highly structured leisure time activities for all youth within housing units and recreational areas both inside and outside of the assigned youth center.
The incumbent in this position will participate in the coordination of recreation and community services activities and assist in developing and delivering an individualized treatment program within the context of a larger group activity.

Job Responsibilities Provides instruction in skills and techniques, and supervision for youths engaged in leisure activities.
Provides direct supervision to youth participating in activities and youth workers.
Provides recreational programming for special units including i.
e.
, Confinement, and Medical, tailoring the activities to meet the security, medical or special needs of the youth assigned.
Secures and inventories all equipment and supplies.
Monitors special events and entertainment.
Participates in youth staffing meetings, evaluations, and assessments of youth treatment needs.
Reports unusual incidents.
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years college, with a bachelor's degree in leisure studies, recreation, physical education, art education, fine arts, studio arts, graphics, color and design, therapeutic recreation, music theater, or speech and communications.
This title is included as an Upward Mobility Program credential title.
Preferred Qualifications (In Order of Significance) Prefers at least one (1) year of experience guiding and monitoring at-risk youth.
Prefers at least one (1) year of experience providing recreational programming youth.
Prefers at least one (1) year of experience conducting inventory of equipment and supplies.
Prefers at least one (1) year of experience monitoring and ensuring safety procedures are followed as they pertain to leisure activities.
Prefers at least one (1) year of experience planning leisure activities in conjunction with other scheduled events and/or programs.
Prefers at least one (1) year of experience making recommendations for ordering of equipment and supplies.
Prefers at least one (1) year of experience with crisis intervention.
Conditions of Employment Requires the ability to pass an IDOC/IDJJ background check.
Requires the ability to comply with all local and federal health requirements and/or mandates.
Requires ability to pass a drug screen.
The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
